Welcome to YolSandals!

YolSandals isn’t just a Sandal. It’s a tool for our well-being; a product designed so that the energy circulation in our body flows naturally through gentle self-stimulation.

YolSandals

How?

Thanks to the precise and carefully studied design of the innersole of YolSandals, the two major energy centers of our body, reflected on the soles of our feet, are specially stimulated. This stimulation, in turn, promotes a greater receptiveness in the other foot reflex areas to the gentle activation produced with each step we take.

What are the benefits?

The regular use of YolSandals throughout the year will contribute to our well-being and general equilibrium, bringing a positive contribution to our daily life.

Professional Backing

YolSandals is backed by the experience and long professional trajectory of
Lina Rodríguez Conde, reputed Zonal Reflexologist.
The practical creation of YolSandals is the work of Astrid Weissenborn-Garcia,
experienced artist and sculptress.

Goal

To contribute to the harmonious well-being of body and mind through the use of YolSandals.

Step by step towards a better day.

There are two centres in our bodies where energy is concentrated: the chest area (heart-lung) and the abdomen (kidney-bladder). These are called “The Upper Energy Sea” (Zong Qi) and “The Lower Energy Sea” (Dan Tian).  The Upper Sea is that which controls the descent of bodily liquids and energy as well as the hydration of the skin and mucous. The Lower Sea is where our body’s Yin and Yang originate and controls the ascent of bodily liquids and energy and all internal transformations. These two centres are inter-communicated and harmonize all our internal functions. In the design of YolSandals, these two areas have been specially accentuated for optimum efficacy. It is also important to highlight the correspondence of these zones  with two major nerve plexus: the Solar Plexus and the Lumbosacral Plexus. The regulation of these two centres has been the principal objective in the design and is unique to YolSandals.

Special attention has been given to the areas corresponding to the head (Toe 1). The most prominent relief has been chosen to stimulate the trapezius muscle. Frequent muscle spasm of the trapezius can often cause compression of the vertebral artery, interfering with the blood flow to the head. Freeing this area helps free all the meridians reaching the head. Special care has been dedicated to the base of the skull and to the atlas (1st vertebra of the neck) where a lot of tension is often accumulated. This is a fundamental area for unblocking energy.

Just above the spiral, which is positioned in the sense of the energy flow on each side of our body, we see a prominent relief corresponding to the bladder. Above this is the relief which stimulates the colon and small intestine. Further towards the center of the foot, we have the adrenal gland and the kidney in strong relief, as these reflex zones are usually concave. This is also true for the stomach reflex, stimulated by 4 prominent elevations on the inner side of the sole. Next to the stomach reflex, for the left foot; stimulation of the spleen, for the right foot; the liver.

Area corresponding to the teeth, sinus cavities and mouth defenses. As our toes grip the sandal when we walk , these areas will receive special stimulation regardless of the shape of our toes. At the base of this area, we find the reflex areas for the eyes and ears.

The strong, distinct relief has been arranged to stimulate the area of the trachea, esophagus, thyroid and thymus.

The lung reflex projection in our feet is sponge-like, just as the lung tissue itself. To stimulate this area, we have chosen relief in the form of drops. Here we have the great regulator of the paths of liquid descent.

Our central axis, the spinal column, appears in strong, marked relief in order to stimulate the arch of the foot and unblock the lumbosacral and dorsal areas which are important for the correct functioning of our internal organs such as kidneys, intestine, liver and spleen.

Area of the gonads or ‘root of the tree of life’ (ovary-testicle, uterus-prostate), main support for the foot as we move. This area is surrounded by a raised, slotted ridge, designed to favor the energy circulation through the leg meridians, which will also help revitalize the leg joints.

YolSandals have been designed as a tool to promote your well-being. They are for your daily and year round use. Wear them with socks in cooler weather since their stimulatory effect is also achieved through socks. You can start your day with YolSandals, wearing them as you do things around the house, or wear them at work , or at the end of your day for a relaxing stimulation. However, if you find that wearing YolSandals in the evening stimulates you excessively, avoid their use during these hours so your sleep is not affected. We recommend getting used to walking around with YolSandals gradually, increasing the time little by little. After a week of regular use, you can wear YolSandals for as long as you wish, keeping your comfort as your guide.

As with all natural stimulation, the reflex stimulation offered by YolSandals requires time and regularity. For this reason, we recommend their daily use for maximum benefit.

YolSandals can be worn outdoors. However, they are not suitable for sports since neither the soles nor the straps would provide the necessary support.

YolSandals can never replace the therapeutic hand of an expert reflexologist, but their use can prolong the positive effects of any session you may have received, all the while heightening your general well-being and increasing your energy levels.

Replaceable Straps to Fit Each Foot Width

With YolSandals we have taken into account an important eco-friendly aspect: If your straps become worn or you would like a change of color, you can simply change them for others. Plus, and very importantly, the different strap lengths available permit a perfect fit for all foot widths.

  • For narrow feet we recommend using straps one size smaller ‘S strap’.
  • Whereas for wide feet you would order straps one size larger, 'L strap’.
  • If your feet are average width, you would click on ‘M strap’.

In this way, YolSandals are just as much for women’s feet as for men’s.

Taking Care of YolSandals

Since this is an open sandal with the inner sole in relief, dust and particles of dirt may collect. In order to clean the rubber sole, you can simply brush with a dry brush or using soap and water. Before their first use, we recommend cleaning them with soap and water to eliminate any possible production residues. Remove the straps first, and once you have cleaned the sandals, let them dry in an upright position. The straps can be washed separately. Do not soak the sandals in water.

Materials 100% Vegan:

Sole: 100% man-made rubber
Straps : 70% cotton and 30% polyester

Lina Rodríguez Conde was born in Orense, Spain. She received her Master’s Degree in Education from the PUCP in Lima, Peru, and her Doctorate in Philosophy and Letters from the Complutense University in Madrid, Spain. Lina’s background of diverse humanistic and scientific disciplines, her inquiring mind and a wealth of relationships prepared her for her first encounter with Reflexology thirty-four years ago. Her passionate interest in this ancestral therapeutic technique coupled with her deep and straightforward humanity, her sense of honesty and quest for authenticity led her very quickly to research the theoretical-scientific foundations underlying Zonal Reflexology within Traditional Chinese medicine. Lina’s vast therapeutic experience and her intellectual rigor in the formulation of the scientific-practical foundations of Reflexology reveal to us a path in our quest for the humanisation of medicine; a more essential and less consumerist aimed medicine. Lina is an internationally recognized teacher and therapist with several books published, among them: "El lenguaje oculto de los pies" (1984) and "Donde el mar se refleja" (2014).

Astrid Weissenborn-García was born in 1964 in Germany where she received her training as a sculptor and studied Waldorf Education and Teacher Training in the area of Plastic Arts. After an inspiring stay in Peru, first as a tourist and later working and living there, she moved to Spain with her young family in 1992. Nowadays,
in addition to her personal artistic and artisanal creation, Astrid offers a variety of workshops; artisanal felt workshops, drawing and clay modeling workshops in Waldorf Teacher Training Programs, as well as giving wood and artisanal felt workshops for the mentally and physically handicapped since 2007.

Her artistic quest in recent years has been oriented towards uniting the beautiful with the practical. Her motto, ‘Allow yourself something to bring beauty to your day to day’’ is reflected again and again in all her creations ... in her decorative painting of spaces, in the beauty and utility of her unique artisanal felt creations and garments, as well as in YolSandals; ‘A sculpture for your feet’.

The Project that Brings Them Together

The marvelous project of YolSandals came into being fueled by the desire, shared by both Lina and Astrid, to bring the benefits of Zonal Reflexology to others. It was precisely after receiving a reflexology session from Lina that Astrid had the idea of looking for a way to prolong the beneficial effects. She wanted to create something that would stimulate the sole of the foot and could be used on a daily basis without having to set aside any extra time. It soon became clear that this would have to be either a clog, a flip-flop or a sandal.

Lina and Astrid agreed from the start that Lina would bring her well-founded knowledge and therapeutic expertise to the development of the footwear and Astrid, as an experienced sculptor, would create the effective form under Lina’s guidance. Then, once the prototype was developed, Lina would provide ongoing, expert therapeutic input and Astrid would handle the production and sales sides.

After two years of intense work and many, many meetings to study, modify and improve the proposed models, Lina was able to give the ‘Green light’ to the production of YolSandals,

Supervising the production, Astrid has remained true to her original goals of creating an environmentally friendly sandal, made-in-Spain, and with replaceable, customized straps. More colours, materials and different ways of wearing YolSandals are in the pipeline.
